Michael J. Cornfield

Attorney at Law

Michael J. Cornfield received his law degree from John Marshall Law School in Chicago after earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Illinois State University. He started his career at Garretson & Santora, Ltd. where he handled insurance defense and subrogation litigation matters, both bench and jury trials. Michael then joined the law firm of John E. McParland as an associate and then in partnership in 1986. The firm is now known as Cornfield Law Office.

Michael is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He is also on the Trust and Investment Review Committee of ATG Trust Company. As a Director of the Gladstone Park Chamber of Commerce, he works closely with many local businesses and professionals on Chicago’s northwest side.

Daniel Cornfield

Attorney at Law

Daniel Cornfield earned a Bachelor’s Degree in both Journalism and History from the University of Missouri before attending DePaul University College of Law in Chicago. He joined Cornfield Law Office as an Associate Attorney in 2018 after working with the firm as a law clerk for four years. He is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.

Trust, Estate, and Probate Administration

The administration, management, and distribution of a decedent’s estate can be a complex, time consuming process. We work on estates of all sizes, whether a client only needs a Small Estate Affidavit or they require a probate estate opened and administered through the court. From the initial investigation of assets through final distribution, our attorneys are experts in guiding our clients along every step of the process.

Real Estate

We work hard from start to finish, from property listing to successful closing, in the home buying and selling process. We work closely with our clients, real estate brokers, and financial institutions to manage all aspects of the real estate transaction, including negotiation, preparation of title documents, preparation of deeds, and all other instruments necessary to successfully close your deal.

Taxation

Every year, we work with our clients on a wide range of tax matters, including personal federal and state tax, trust and estate income tax, gift tax planning, and real estate tax management.
